The process is short and simple; the longest part is waiting for Steam to download our mods. Read the rules and join the Discord while you wait, and don't forget to /link your account.
You need to own Project Zomboid on Steam. The server runs Build 42.21, which is Steam's default branch, so if the game is installed you don't need to change anything.
The mod collection is 110 items and about 3.6 GB. Once you've subscribed, Steam will begin downloading automatically.
Read the #guidelines channel to familiarise yourself with the rules and then react to the #how-to-join card to be granted the Survivor role.
Join the Helix Discord →One click subscribes you to all 110 items in the right order. Steam will let you know when the game is ready to launch.
Open the collection on Steam →Launch the game, choose Join, and add us to your favourites with the IP and port below. Steam will check your mods and download anything missing automatically.
Type /link in Discord, get a code, and type it in the in-game chat. Linking is required: characters that aren't linked may be wiped without notice. It also gets you a starter pack once a season, your name on the leaderboards, and credit for every utility you repair. Good luck out there, Survivor!
Almost always an incomplete download or a mod left over from another server. Close the game, validate your game files in Steam if you're having issues, and check you haven't got extra mods enabled. Unsubscribing from everything and re-subscribing to the collection is the reliable fix.
Check Steam still has the game on the default branch (Build 42.21), not a beta or legacy branch. Other builds have separate server lists. If you're on the right build, add the IP and port to your favourites instead of searching.
A mod updated on the Workshop and the server is restarting to pick it up. The restart card in Discord says when it's back; it takes less than two minutes to return to serving connections.
